The Peking University New Faculty Excellent Teaching (PKUnet) program has been officially launched on the Cambridge Teacher Research Exchange (Camtree) platform. More details can be found at: PKUnet: Peking University New Faculty Excellent Teaching (camtree.org).

PKUnet is a program designed to enhance the professional skills of young teachers by providing training, educational resources, and opportunities for peer interaction. It offers a platform for these teachers to exchange ideas about teaching philosophy, reflect on their teaching practices, and engage in pedagogical research, so as to foster an appropriate outlook on talent development, make judicious plans for their careers, and improve their teaching skills and innovation capabilities. Camtree, a global community of educators, promotes discussions on teaching development, co-research in education, the application and sharing of findings, the enhancement of research skills, and the integration of educational theory and practice. To further advance teachers’ professional skills, PKUnet has collaborated with Camtree in fostering practice-based teaching research. They have also jointly built a global community for educational exchanges to facilitate cross-cultural dialogue.

The 2022-2023 national demonstration project for the training of new college teachers across central and western China is drawing to a close. This project is sponsored by the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Center for Excellent Teaching and Learning (CETL) of Peking University. Currently, research reports from the first cohort of new teachers are being published on Camtree, including “Research and Practice of Blended Teaching in Constructivist Theoretical Mechanics within a Digital Context” and “Project-Based Teaching in Sports Physiology for P.E. Students.” These publications mark a significant achievement for the project. In the upcoming fall semester, the Camtree team will collaborate with the Center for Excellent Teaching and Learning to organize workshops for PKUnet faculty members. These workshops are designed to help young educators incorporate advanced educational theory into practice and conduct case-based teaching research. CETL will also provide guidance to these educators on creating teaching portfolios, preparing research reports, and selecting outstanding ones for publication on Camtree.

The partnership between PKUnet and Camtree is a cornerstone of Peking University’s “International Strategic Year” (2023). It aims to establish an online community for educational exchanges through pragmatic and high-quality collaborations with world-class universities. This community will serve as a cross-cultural platform, enabling educators from different countries to engage in mutual learning and sharing.
