From November 2nd to 3rd, the sub-forum of Beijing Forum (2024), titled "Global Innovation Forum on Digital Intelligent Education Fostering an Inclusive, Equitable, and Collaborative Future," along with the related events, was held by the Digital Intelligence International Development Education Alliance (DI-IDEA). Over 80 experts and scholars from member universities of DI-IDEA gathered to explore new trends in the future of digital and intelligent education.

The White Paper on Digital Intelligence Education Development, compiled by DI-IDEA, was released at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Forum (2024) on November 1st. The White Paper integrates over 100 outstanding cases from nearly 50 universities worldwide and proposes four action plans: "Enhancing Digital Intelligence Education Leadership," "Establishing Digital Intelligence Education Standards," "Developing Digital Intelligence Education Frameworks," and "Sharing Digital Intelligence Education Platforms." The White Paper was unveiled by 18 international university representatives, including Gong Qihuang, Chairman of DI-IDEA, President of Peking University, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Zhang Pingwen, Director of DI-IDEA Advisory Board, President of Wuhan University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Gong Qihuang delivered opening remarks at the Panel Session. He pointed out that digitization and intelligentization have become new engines driving the development of global higher education. Over the past year since its establishment, DI-IDEA has organized a series of seminars and collaborative research projects, released significant research outcomes, launched the DI-IDEA Hub International University Platform for Digital Intelligence Education, and hosted the 1st Global Digital Intelligence Education Innovation Competition, demonstrating the alliance's vitality and influence. Gong expressed hope that in its next phase, DI-IDEA would focus on promoting the sharing of research achievements in Digital Intelligence Education, co-building Digital Intelligence Education platforms, and jointly cultivating innovative talents in Digital Intelligence, thereby contributing actively to global educational reform and innovation. Wang Bo, Vice Chairman of DI-IDEA, Vice President and Provost of Peking University, hosted the opening ceremony and the keynote report session of the panel session.

During the keynote report session, Zhang Pingwen introduced Wuhan University's practices in cultivating digital intelligence talents, including the "Five-in-One Digital Intelligence Integration," the "Six-Ones Platform," and the "Digital Intelligence Education Practice and Innovation Alliance." President Jaeho Yeom of Taejae University in South Korea envisioned a new model of education in the digital intelligence era. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, believed that universities should provide inclusive and mastery-oriented digital intelligence education. Vice President Emma McCoy of the London School of Economics and Political Science in the UK emphasized the role of social science research in a STEM-oriented world. Wang Fan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee at Sun Yat-sen University, introduced the thoughts and practices of artificial intelligence empowering education. Daniel Schwartz, the dean of the School of Education at Stanford University in the US, introduced the transformations that have occurred in the field of learning in the digital intelligence era.
Keynote report session
Two new books from the "Digital Intelligence Education Series" were unveiled at this themed forum. Conversational Pathways in Educational Technology was jointly revealed by its authors—Rupert Wegerif, Professor at the University of Cambridge, Louis Major, Senior Lecturer in Digital Education at the University of Manchester, Zhou Hao, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Publishing Group, and Song Junbo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Empower Education Online. Global Frontiers in Digital Intelligence Education: Innovation and Practice was unveiled by Simon Walker, Professor at University College London, Samantha Smidt, Academic Director of King’s College London, Wang Heling, Editor-in-chief of Beijing People’s Publishing House and Sun Hua, Secretary-General of DI-IDEA, Director of the Office of the Provost and the Center for Excellent Teaching and Learning at Peking University.

A roundtable discussion on "Humanities Meet Artificial Intelligence: Concepts, Technologies, and Ethics" featured Qin S. Joe, President of Lingnan University in Hong Kong, John Quelch, Executive Vice Chancellor of Duke Kunshan University, Rupert Wegerif, and Liu Yuli, Professor of the National Academy of Governance, moderated by Zhang Ying, Deputy Secretary General of DI-IDEA, Associate Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University.
Roundtable discussion
On the evening of November 2nd, the DI-IDEA Council Meeting convened at The Zhibeizi Garden of Peking University, with 30 member institutions participating online or in person. The Council reviewed the annual progress of DI-IDEA, discussed plans for 2025, and formally adopted the alliance’s charter.

On November 3rd, the "Global Innovation Forum on Digital Intelligent Education: Fostering an Inclusive, Equitable, and Collaborative Future" Student Forum & Award Ceremony for the 1st Global Digital Intelligence Education Innovation Competition took place. More than 1,100 participants representing over 100 universities worldwide competed in the four-month event, with 5 gold, 10 silver, 15 bronze, and 32 excellence awards presented. Experts from the competition’s Steering Committee, including Zhang Pingwen and Duan Huiling, presented awards to the winning participants. Gold medalists presented their projects, followed by expert commentaries from Zhang Linfeng (Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, DP Technology) and Lyu Dong (Chief Marketing Officer of Intel China). The ceremony was hosted by Liu Deying, Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Peking University.
